September 24, 2027:
Pan-European Challenge
Pre-registration is open right now for participating cars.
The official public launch for all participating vehicles taking part in the tour will be on September 24, 2027.

The Challenge

Be among the first to blaze a trail on Europe’s brand-new green highway! History will remember you as the pioneers opening the way to a cleaner future.
From Nordkapp to Tarifa, we’ll journey through stunning landscapes, explore historic cities, and savor the rich cuisine and culture that stretch from Europe’s northernmost to its southernmost point.
Anyone with an electric car can join this epic challenge and attempt to break the last World record. Here the history**:

Year Record setter Charging time
2015 Guinness World Records Michael Willberg & Team 20 hours, 15 minutes
2017 Guinness World Records Jeff and Ben Cottam-Allan 13 hours, 7 minutes
2017 Electrified Tour Michael Willberg & Team 9 hours, 51 minutes

Unlike the records above, where the teams drove day and night, we have defined the measurement more realistically, with driving times during the day and breaks to enjoy the scenery and culture.

Spend the least total time charging over 7 thrilling days, starting at Europe’s northernmost tip and driving through Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, France, and Spain – finishing at the continent’s southernmost point. No ferries allowed* – just pure, emission-free electric power. Paneuropeana is 100% green, 100% electric, and 100% epic.

The Initiator

After circumnavigating the world four times with his electric car – in 2012 solo, 2016 with 10 teams, 2022 solo again in his Tesla Roadster, and in 2024 as a scout for a family expedition (80edays.com – register now to join the 5th circumnavigation: The Silk Road Electric Car Trip!) – and organizing 28 international electric car racing events from 2013 to 2023 (eco.gpslalom and 24h race weekends), multiple world record holder Rafael de Mestre is now launching a third event format for those eager to explore and experience all of Europe.

A record setter team (car brand will be disclosed soon) will drive the route in September 2026, Rafael will establish the meeting points, and return with stunning photos of the breathtaking landscapes along the way.

Rules

One team can have between one and four drivers.  Drivers are free to switch during the journey, but only those who are in the car from start to finish can be included in the world record application.

Guests, press, and YouTubers are welcome to join and leave participant cars at any time. Only 100% electric cars are allowed to take part in this epic journey.

You’ll be able to track every car live online. An Android smartphone connected continuously to the car is required.

Inscription fee 50 Euros per team is raising with the time!
For the first edition, the early bird entry fee already timed out, the actual fee is just 50 Euros per team. Fees for organization, parties, hotels, and road tolls will be calculated separately and may be reduced due to sponsorships. The total costs will be published here January 2027. With the publication the entry fee will raise to 100 Euros. You’ll be free to choose to book the hotel package or arrange your own accommodation.
In addition to the Team fee, there will be a starting fee per team member.

Additional starting fee 50 Euros per team member.
Every team member will get official Paneuropeana shirts, caps and jackets. You are allowed to stick your own sponsors on the jackets but they have to be approved by the Paneutopeana organisation. Existing sponsor stickers are not allowed to remove or cover. This fee is not to be paid before September 2027.

Winning prize for the team!
Anyone who beats the actual record will receive a 500 Euro prize. The ultimate world record breaker will earn the title instead of the cash prize – so everyone can be a winner!

10 teams are needed to launch the project – join now and make it happen!
The first edition starts at Nordkapp on the evening of September 24, 2027 – to maximize the chance of seeing the northern lights. The finish date is Saturday, October 2, 2027.

* We know that there are more and more electric ferries but to be able to compare the record with the former records we exclude ferries even if they are electric. Imagine some day someone will take an electric ferry in Norway and will ship the car to Tarifa not charging at all. You are welcome to come to the event in an electric ferry but from start to finish it won’t be allowed for participants to be transported by any kind of media. Participants must drive the whole trip on their own wheels. The amount of driven km will be checked at the finish line and the car will be tracked live the whole period of the 8 days.
** Please be informed that a Guinness World Record is not a proved real World Record. It is just a Record, registered by the beer company #Guinness. We are tracking this real Electric Car World Record and register it at the Official World Record NGO.
