The Challenge

Be among the first to blaze a trail on Europe’s brand-new green highway! History will remember you as the pioneers opening the way to a cleaner future.
From Nordkapp to Tarifa, we’ll journey through stunning landscapes, explore historic cities, and savor the rich cuisine and culture that stretch from Europe’s northernmost to its southernmost point.
Anyone with an electric car can join this epic challenge and attempt to break the last World Record

The challenge: spend the least total time charging over 8 thrilling days, starting at Europe’s northernmost tip and driving through Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, France, and Spain – finishing at the continent’s southernmost point. No ferries allowed* – just pure, emission-free electric power. Paneuropeana is 100% green, 100% electric, and 100% epic.

The Initiator

After circumnavigating the world four times with his electric car – in 2012 solo, 2016 with 10 teams, 2022 solo again in his Tesla Roadster, and in 2024 as a scout for a family expedition (80edays.com – register now to join the 5th circumnavigation: The Silk Road Electric Car Trip!) – and organizing 28 international electric car racing events from 2013 to 2023 (eco.gpslalom and 24h race weekends), multiple world record holder Rafael de Mestre is now launching a third event format for those eager to explore and experience all of Europe.

He will drive the route in 2026, establish meeting points, and return with stunning photos of the breathtaking landscapes along the way.

Rules

One team can have between one and four drivers.  Drivers are free to switch during the journey, but only those who are in the car from start to finish can be included in the world record application.

Guests, press, and YouTubers are welcome to join and leave participant cars at any time. Only 100% electric cars are allowed to take part in this epic journey.

You’ll be able to track every car live online. An Android smartphone connected continuously to the car is required.

Only 20 Euros!
For the first edition, the registration fee is just 20 Euros per person. Fees for organization, parties, hotels, and road tolls will be calculated and may be reduced due to sponsorships. They will be published here one year before the start in September 2026. You’ll be free to choose to book the hotel package or arrange your own accommodation.

Anyone who beats the record will receive a 500 Euro prize. The ultimate world record breaker will earn the title instead of the cash prize – so everyone can be a winner!

10 teams are needed to launch the project – join now and make it happen!
The first edition starts at Nordkapp on the evening of September 24, 2027 – to maximize the chance of seeing the northern lights. The finish date is Saturday, October 2, 2027.

* We know that there are more and more electric ferries but to be able to compare the record with the former records we exclude ferries even if they are electric. Imagine some day someone will take an electric ferry in Norway and will ship the car to Tarifa not charging at all. You are welcome to come to the event in an electric ferry but from start to finish it won’t be allowed for participants to be transported by any kind of media. Participants must drive the whole trip on their own wheels. The amount of driven km will be checked at the finish line and the car will be tracked live the whole period of the 8 days.
